New Mexico Shootout
Founded in 1940, Sierra Vista Hospital moved into its current facility in 1955. Licensed as a critical access hospital with 25 beds, the hospital cares for more than 400 inpatients each year. There is no other major medical center within 75 miles.

For centuries, Sierra County has been known primarily for its soothing hot mineral springs, stunning landscapes and quiet lifestyle. But now the area is beginning to experience unprecedented growth. The current population of 15,000 is expected to increase dramatically, and rather quickly, as more and more retirees looking for a sunny, comfortable environment, outdoor enthusiasts, spa devotees and artists are drawn to the area. With the advent of the New Mexico Spaceport, space-related and support businesses are already moving in, a process which will continue to escalate in the next few years. The Hot Springs Motorplex offers additional growth opportunities.

Replacing the current hospital is commonly viewed as Sierra County’s most critical need.

Proceeds from The New Mexico Shootout will benefit Sierra Vista Hospital’s campaign to fund a brand new facility which will provide up- to-date health care and medical for the County’s residents and visitors. These expanded services will enable the new hospital to serve far more people locally, reducing the need to travel great technologies distances to receive high quality medical care.
