Nancy grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, where her father Domingo
introduced her to the game at age 8. Just four years
later she won the New Mexico Women’s Amateur,
then went on to win the US Junior Girls Amateur
in 1972 and 1974. Nancy played in the 1975 US
Women’s Open as a 17-year-old amateur and tied
for 2nd, and in 1976 was named All-American at
Tulsa University. She turned pro in 1977, eventually
blending the birth of her three children into her
professional career. She and her husband Ray Knight,
